Today we discover the colorful world of Nonsolonuvole, a creative project by Silvia Rotondo, a supermom who decided to devote herself to the decoration of kids rooms after the birth of her baby. Raccontati in due parole.
Mi chiamo Silvia, sono la mamma di Tommaso, uno splendido bimbo di 2 anni e mezzo, e vivo a Pescara dopo aver passato gli ultimi 10 anni a Madrid per ragioni di studio e lavoro.
Com’è nato Nonsolonuvole?
Sono sempre stata appassionata di arredamento e decorazione. Da quando è nato Tommaso mi sono interessata alla decorazione per le camerette, scoprendo il bellissimo mondo dell’handmade. Credo che per stimolare la mente dei bambini l’immaginazione sia fondamentale, ma ci vuole creatività anche nella testa delle mamme. E io, da mamma, ho voluto mettere a frutto la mia creatività e stimolare la fantasia di mio figlio… e, perché no? Anche quella degli altri!
Quali materiali utilizzi per le tue creazioni?
Uso materiali naturali e cerco di riutilizzare gli scarti di tessuto, i bottoni di quegli abiti che non si usano più. Penso che l’handmade abbia un valore altissimo. È un ritorno alla manualità in un mondo in cui tutto è automatizzato, veloce, quasi anonimo… Io mi siedo davanti a un buon caffè e, con pazienza, cucio e creo.
Le tue fonti di ispirazione?
Tutte le persone che provano a reinventarsi.
Progetti futuri?
Beh, sicuramente continuare a proporre creazioni fatte completamente a mano per garantire l’unicità del prodotto, partecipare a fiere ed eventi creativi e poi ho un sogno nel cassetto… aprire un piccolo atelier nella mia città dove creare, esporre e vendere Nonsolonuvole.

I like the work of Silvia. And, curious to learn more about Nonsolonuvole, I asked her to answer a few questions.
Tell us about yourself in brief.
My name is Silvia, I’m the mother of Tommaso, a beautiful two and a half years old baby, and I live in Pescara after spending the last 10 years in Madrid for study and work.
How did Nonsolonuvole?
I have always been passionate about furniture and decoration. Since Tommaso was born I’m interested in decoration for kids rooms, discovering the wonderful handmade world. I believe that imagination is the key to stimulate children’s minds, but it needs creativity in the heads of moms too. And I, as a mother, wanted to use my creativity for stimulating my son’s imagination… and, why not? The imagination of others!
What materials do you use for your creations?
I use natural materials and I try to reuse fabric scraps, buttons of dresses no longer used. I think handmade has a very high value. It’s a return to the manual things in a world where everything is automatic, fast, almost anonymous… I sit in front of a good coffee and, with patience, I sew and create.
Your source of inspiration?
All the people who try to reinvent themselves.
Future projects?
Well, certainly I will continue to propose unique handmade creations, I will attend to creative events and then I have a little dream… to open a small atelier in my town where I can create, display and sell Nonsolonuvole.
